KCAC pilots a course for soaring sales--Aircraft cockpit retrofit work could land $60M

Kansas City Aviation Center anticipates $30 million to $60 million in sales of an instrument panel retrofit it will offer for one of the world's best-selling airplanes.

The Olathe-based aircraft sales and service company plans to build a $1.25 million facility at the Johnson County Executive Airport and hire perhaps 15 employees to accommodate the retrofit program, which it will market to owners of the Pilatus PC-12.

KCAC to Obtain STC for Installation of Universal Avionics EFI-890R in the PC-12

Kansas City Aviation Center (KCAC) and Universal Avionics announced a joint program to retrofit triple EFI-890R EFIS displays into the Pilatus PC-12 single-engine turboprop. The PC-12 has been the leading selling turboprop for the past few years and over 600 units have been sold worldwide. KCAC will hold the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the installations.

The EFI-890R displays are 8.9-inch diagonal, high-resolution displays and will be fully integrated with the existing avionics in the PC-12. The displays offer advanced technology and display features such as Synthetic Vision, Aeronautical Charts, Up-linked weather, TAWS, Video and a host of other emerging applications. These features will modernize the cockpit to improve situational awareness and add to the overall safety of each flight.
